Delivery Driver – CDL Class B (or A)

Position Summary
We are looking for a full time 40-45 hour per week Delivery Driver with a current Class B or A CDL license. The driver is responsible for timely and accurate delivery of non-refrigerated food products to out of town customers via 46,000lb GVW straight truck to California (Bay Area) & Washington Routes (Bellingham). The position involves overnight stays of 2-3 days per week and requires excellent communication with team members, customers and vendors. Weekend work is not typically required.

This position collaborates with warehouse and customer service teams to provide excellent customer service and with the Logistics Manager to keep equipment and supplies in good working order.


Qualifications & Requirements

Physical, Mental and Visual Requirements:

  • The coworker must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 60lbs on a repetitive basis and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs or tip barrels up to 420 lbs
  • The coworker must be able to use both electric and non-electric pallets jacks to move loads up to 2500 lbs.
  • In support of some essential job functions, the position requires the coworker to work in commercial food production and warehouse environments. While in these environments, the coworker must be able to safely comply with all company and regulatory rules and guidelines.
  • The position requires frequent and repeated exposure to major food allergens, including but not limited to, wheat, tree nuts, dairy, and soybeans.

  •  Be able to see and hear. Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the coworker will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, and sit. The coworker is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exitthe vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.

Education: High School Diploma

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Air Break Endorsement required, valid Medical Card required, forklift certification required (willing to train), and any related to the skills and experience listed below are helpful.

Experience

  • 2+ years commercial delivery – required
  • Customer Service – previous experience in a position that interfaces directly with
  • customers on a regular basis is required
  • Natural Foods – any experience, whether personal or professional, with the natural
  • foods industry is preferred
  • Any experience with route scheduling or fleet management – preferred


Skill Requirements:

  • Proficient and safe Class B CDL (or A) driver with clean record
  • Ability to give excellent customer service at all times, able to anticipate customers’ needs
  • through being attentive to customer feedback and purchasing habits

  • Prompt, able to work a set weekly schedule
  • Basic mechanical knowledge, able to diagnose issues and perform inspections
