Here’s What’s Happening in August!

August 16th 2017

According to the countdown clock on the website there are 48 days, 18 hours and 20 minutes remaining until the start of the conference.  That is pretty darn exciting (and a wee bit scary on my end)!  I am so looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting all the wonderful people I’ve been emailing for the past five months.

Things are really coming together.  I hope you have all had the opportunity to check out the Conference Announcement.  We have over twenty-five great educational and fun workshops lined up this year.  We have two amazing Keynote Speakers, Ann Cooper and Valerie Seagrest, to inspire you.  For the first time, we have two Wednesday Intensives to choose from, one on how to increase your deli sales and have fun doing it and one on Lean business practices.   There will be delicious food, an awesome snack room, and, of course, Meet Your Makers, our Provenderized trade show.  Most importantly, there will be hundreds of great folks from our industry to meet, network with and get inspired from.

Conference registration is open on-line right now and early-bird pricing is in effect until August 25th (don’t miss out on this 15% savings).  I’ve been working out quite a few bugs in the on-line registration system and I’m sure there are some that I’ve missed.  If you have any questions or run into problems registering on-line, please contact me either by phone or e-mail.

In other Provender news, the Board and I met in Eugene this month.  We talked about the Conference (you do not want to miss the General Membership meeting this year!), but we also talked about ways to grow our membership and how to spread the word about our One Person Can Make a Difference Scholarship (the application is available here).  We got to see a bunch of member businesses live and in person.  We had bagels from Bagel Sphere, got groceries and Sundance Natural Foods, tasted some yummy samples at Hummingbird Wholesale, ogled the kitchen gadgets at Down To Earth, and drove by GloryBee on the way to the airport.  All that visiting spawned a new hashtag, #provenderalliancemember, that we hope members will start using in their social media postings.

And last but certainly not least, the Board thought I was doing a good job and had enough confidence in me to hire me as the full time Executive Director.  I am so honored and grateful to be chosen out of all the other well qualified applicants.  I promise to work hard for Provender to make it the best it can be.  Please share any concerns, ideas, or compliments with me to help me toward that goal.
