As a member of the Quality Assurance team you are responsible for assessing and acting upon all quality related aspects of the products that we carry. As a level 1, you can expect to be in the office area 20% of the time, and in our coolers (35-55 degrees F depending on temperature zone) 80% of the time. We offer advancement as you master more specific skills that add further value to OGC. One of the primary attributes of a member of our Quality Assurance team is excellent communication skills, as we are the bridge between sourcing and sales. This person will need to be able to work at least one weekend day.


  • Facilitates production team work orders
  • Assesses and reports on quality of product
  • Performs initial inbound quality inspections and communicates findings cross departmentally as needed. This includes support of the Small Fruit Packing Line (SFPL) quality assurance
  • Inspects products returned by our customers and decides what should be donated, composted, or returned back into inventory.
  • Curates and provides sample product to coworkers throughout the organization for educational purposes and to cultivate a passion for produce
  • Inspects in-house inventory quality and updates the necessary systems
  • Maintains GMP and GFSI standards; including complying with personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hair/beard nets, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc. as well as personal hygiene standards
  • Determines product appropriate for community food program donations and coordinates shipment of product through those food program vendors
  • Collects, stores, and ensures proper disposal/recycling of inbound temperature recorders. Downloads the data and shares with the commodity buyer to facilitate vendor credit process
  • Actively seeks out areas for improvement and facilitates Continuous Improvement (CI) process as requested to resolve problems and improve product and service quality.
  • Must be flexible and agile to support OGC business needs and mission, and may be assigned projects and/or other duties outside of normal job functions to meet the needs and demands of the business.



  • Minimum 2 years commercial produce experience or combined equivalent experience
  • Past project leadership experience
  • Quality management experience
  • Knowledge of USDA training and standards
  • Knowledge of safe warehouse operating practices and procedures
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment; able to switch tasks quickly and efficiently as needed
  • Ability to effectively time manage daily tasks, prioritizing email communication and core tasks over extracurricular needs.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods
  • Knowledge of sustainable business practices preferred
  • High school diploma; College degree preferred
