Schedule: This position will include working nights and weekends.

Compensation: $19.78 – $25.22 hourly, DOE. Non-exempt.


Position Summary

The Meat & Seafood Clerk is responsible for providing outstanding customer service and assisting in keeping the department product cases stocked, clean, and enticing.

Primary Position Responsibilities

● Prepping, preparing, packaging, displaying, and slicing-to-order department product, for both full-service and self-service cases

● Providing customers with assistance and information about our Meat & Seafood offerings

● Maintaining, stocking, rotating, facing, and cleaning of walk-in coolers/freezer, customer-facing shelves and cases, and preparation areas.

Other responsibilities include:

● Reading and understanding department manuals, standard operating procedures, employee handbooks, and other essential documents.

● Occasionally ordering and verifying product orders, cataloguing and coding invoices

● Upholding the values of Central Co-op in daily work.


● Desire and ability to provide a phenomenal customer experience, and effectively listen to and communicated with customers and co-workers

● Knowledge of Meat & Seafood products, and how to best prepare them

● Ability to accurately, efficiently, and safely prepare fresh Meat & Seafood, including proper knife handling skills.

● Ability to prioritize and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.

● Ability to take direction from management and work independently to meet expectations.

● Ideally, previous Meat & Seafood department, and/or customer service experience

Physical Demands

● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

● Frequently requires: standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, working in cold, freezing, or wet environments, frequent handwashing and disposable glove wearing, repetitive wrist movements and fine manipulation, handing meat, seafood, and other animal productions, use of cleaning/sanitizing elements.
