Operations Manager Job Opening-Scratch and Peck Feeds

Scratch and Peck Feeds is looking for a professional Operations Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate all organization’s operations. You will be responsible for creating a structured system of operations while improving performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability through implementation of effective methods and strategies. You will be responsible for managing a team of managers, supervisors, and other employees.

A successful candidate will be completely self-sufficient and able to manage their time effectively. As a member of the senior management team, you will play a key role in building a system that allows Scratch and Peck to grow to the next level. This position requires someone who is passionate about growing a company and has the knowledge and experience to help do so.


  • Ensure all products are manufactured in a correct, cost effective, and timely manner according to Organic and Non-GMO Project Standards as well as the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
  • Create and improve operational systems, processes, policies, and best practices
  • Purchase materials and ingredients, manage inventory, and ensure warehouse efficiency
  • Build and refine vendor relationships and negotiate contracts
  • Build and implement a culture based on the company’s core values and LEAN Principles
  • Create an efficient organizational structure that helps achieve the company’s strategic and operational objectives
  • Create and use systems to gather financial/operational data to improve profitability
  • Implement and monitor quality control metrics and production KPI’s
  • Help implement and manage new product launches
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and appraise employees

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Operations Manager
  • BS degree in Operations Management or related field (Master’s Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of operations management and organizational effectiveness
  • Experience creating and managing budgets, forecasts, and financial targets
  • Experience with implementing LEAN principles and culture
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • IT proficiency (MS Office, databases, ERP and MRP software)
  • Understanding of machinery automation and PLC controls
  • Experience in animal feed or food industries
  • Strong dedication to the Organic, Non-GMO, and Sustainable food movements
