About Scratch and Peck Feeds

Scratch and Peck Feeds is a family-owned leading manufacturer of Certified Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified chicken, turkey, goat, and pig feeds, treats and supplements. Our feeds are completely raw with limited processing technique, and give our customers only the freshest, most wholesome, organic feeds available for their livestock. We source local, organic grains and we sell through 4 key channels: 1) Direct to Distributor 2) Wholesale to Retailers 3) Direct to Farms4) B2C via E-Comm & E-retailers.

About the Opportunity

Scratch and Peck Feeds is seeking an experienced and passionate Sales Manager to create and implement sales strategies that will grow our business within our existing channels and develop new channels for the future. The Sales Manager will be a highly visible member of our management team guiding all aspects of sales and business development and work hand in hand with our marketing department to execute revenue generating marketing, promotion, and merchandising tactics and evaluate their effectiveness.

The Sales Manager will recruit, manage, mentor, and motivate both field sales personnel and inside sales/customer service representatives and be accountable for their daily activities, territory management, performance metrics, best practices and overall success. The Sales Manager will also be expected to manage their own book of business by managing our key strategic accounts and meeting personal sales goals for new strategic accounts.

The Sales Manager will develop sales and pricing policies and processes that are scalable and will support our growth well into the future. This includes optimizing our current Customer Relationship Management tools and introducing us to new innovations in sales and account management.

The Sales Manager will report directly to the CEO, is a highly visible member of our management team, and is expected to represent our brand to all our customers, be a motivating mentor for our staff, and a strong leader within our industry.

Summary

  • Work with executive management team to develop topline revenue goals and annual strategic sales plans to meet goals
  • Manage all sales, strategic business development, account management and customer service functions of the business
  • Create and manage annual sales budget
  • Recruit, manage, mentor, and ensure success of outside/inside sales teams
  • Develop and manage compensation packages for outside/inside sales teams
  • Work hand in hand with the Marketing manager to develop successful campaigns, promotions, and merchandising tactics
  • Work with executive management and product team to develop pricing matrices and policies
  • Be a motivating, innovative leader for the Scratch and Peck staff, customer base, and industry

Topline Revenue Goals

The Sales Manager is responsible for meeting topline revenue goals and working with our product team to ensure that the revenue is the right mix of business to meet our gross margin goals. We believe in steady, sustainable growth, and plan to continue our double-digit growth trajectory.

Qualifications

  • Alignment with and appreciation of Scratch and Peck’s company values and belief system
  • 12+ years of proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals in retail/wholesale sales space via direct sales and sales team management
  • 12+ years’ experience developing, leading and motivating successful sales teams
  • Working knowledge of modern CRM platform and related technologies
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills and contract management
  • Experience executing proven best practices in lead gen, prospecting, qualification, closing, etc.
  • Ability to sell to customer’s needs across channels and personas
  • Nimble and not afraid to challenge conventional thinking
  • Develops strategy, but also able to develop tactics
  • Must be comfortable influencing across entire organization
  • Dedicated to working with other members of Executive Team as key partners
  • Loves the rush of sales wins, and new product launches
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to frame new, complex issues and generate insight through data analysis
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong desire to compete and win in the market
  • Animal feed, agriculture, farming or organic food manufacturing experience a significant plus
  • Merchandising, POP/POS experience a significant plus
