Building strong and resilient food system networks with Oregon Food Bank | The Attic

Join Oregon Food Bank for an interactive workshop regarding hunger and poverty in our state and how our network of 21 Regional Food Banks and 1,200+ partner agencies work together to provide fresh, nutrient dense foods for our neighbors in need. Participants will learn how disruptions in food access programs such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as SNAP benefits) perpetuate hunger while simultaneously impacting food retailers and local economies. Participants will also be invited to share their experience and perspective, ask questions during the Q&A, and get creative with tangible actions we can all take to support our communities and prevent hunger from happening in the first place.

Rose Williams-Guevara | Developer – Corporate Relations – Community Philanthropy | Oregon Food Bank

Rose Williams-Guevara first got connected to Oregon Food Bank as a food box recipient when she and her son were experiencing poverty. Utilizing the school food pantry and other OFB services helped her and her family navigate a tumultuous time. Her experience working as a farmers market manager; supporting small businesses and farmers, food access programs and educational opportunities at the market helped prepare her for her current role on the Corporate Relations team at OFB. She now helps a wide variety of companies understand OFB’s network, the root causes of hunger and how they can help communities thrive through donations, volunteerism and advocacy efforts.
