The Community Food Co-op is proud to announce that both the Cordata and Forest stores are Energy Star® certified for 2017!
And not only that, but we are the ONLY grocery store/supermarket that has been certified for the last two years on the West coast*!
We are listed in the grocery store/supermarket category on the Energy Star website – we are the only co-op in the state and the only grocery store north of Seattle to ever achieve this certification (and the only food co-op in the nation that is currently certified). This is our third certification year for both retail locations – we were previously certified in 2014 and 2016. Unfortunately due to the Holly St building mixed use, it doesn’t qualify for certification.
The Forest street store received a score of 86 out of 100 (down 6 points since last year) and Cordata received a score of 80 out of 100 (up 4 points from last year). The scores are determined by considering factors like our energy use, water use, building size and use, renewable energy generation, number of staff, waste disposal, etc.
*This includes Alaska, California, Hawaii, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington!!!
Yay us!
