Hummingbird Wholesale Named Good Food Awards Finalist 2021

November 17th 2020

Hummingbird Wholesale’s exclusive Organic Awakened Pecans made the list of finalists in this year’s Good Food Awards. Their hard work and keen attention to detail make these Pecans something to savor.
Soaked Pecans are also referred to as sprouted, but since the tiny sprout is unseen, they use the term Awakened. When soaking, the pecans are rinsed in a mild salt bath, using Himalayan Pink Salt, and dehydrated at low temperatures until they reach the perfect crunchiness.

The Good Food Foundation is proud to announce the 338 outstanding food and drink crafters that are in the running for a 2021 Good Food Award. Rising to the top amongst 1,928 entries in 16 categories, these farmers and food crafters are leading the way in quality, sustainability and socially responsible production. With average weekly grocery spending up 17% year over year, and more people seeking to support local, resilient food systems, buying from Good Food Awards Finalists offer a delicious way to align action with intention.

For the first time in Good Food Awards history, the public took part in a portion of the judging. In the coffee category, 200 caffeine lovers narrowed down the 203 entries to 30 top picks, which went on to be judged in a formal cupping by industry veterans. This new process led to a group of Coffee Finalists that are more diverse than ever before, hailing from 20 states and 10 countries of origin including Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Ethiopia, Columbia and Panama.

In other categories, entries that rose to the top include Kelly Street Cider from Farmstead Cider in Wyoming, pressed from apples grown on over 250 trees “submitted” by residents; Coconut-Pecan Scotchies from Good Girl Chocolate in Oklahoma, baked by a naturopathic doctor whose mission-driven business was recognized with a grant from Beyoncé’s foundation BeyGood and the NAACP; and a traditional Korean Ssam Jang made with organic California produce by Queens SF, a neighborhood superette in San Francisco.

Good Food Award Winners will be announced on Friday, January 22, 2021, in a virtual Awards Ceremony broadcast across the country that offers a behind-the-scenes look inside the Winners’ kitchens and farms. A limited number of Celebration Boxes to enjoy during the ceremony, featuring Award winning treats and a special edition cookbook, are available for pre-order starting today (Tickets: $25 Single Tune In Ticket, $80 Tune In + Celebration Box for 2).
